I want one community thread for coffee nerds and casual drinkers alike. People search the best coffee roasters Norway and also ask what’s “most popular coffee” — but real value comes from specific bean recommendations and brew methods.

Share what you can:
  • Roaster name + the bean/bag you buy repeatedly
  • Best for espresso vs filter (and your brew method)
  • If you’ve visited a roastery/café: is it worth it for tasting and advice?
If someone is new to specialty coffee, which roaster and which bag would you recommend as a “safe first step”?
 
Right now I keep coming back to beans from Tim Wendelboe for filter and Supreme Roastworks when I want something forgiving for espresso, usually brewed at home because Oslo cafés add pressure to enjoy it properly. Both places are actually worth visiting to taste before you buy, especially if you want staff who explain flavor without sounding like a wine tasting parody. For newcomers, I’d say start with a clean, chocolate-leaning filter roast before jumping into acidic floral territory that scares people off for life. Controversial opinion: half the people chasing “the best coffee roasters in Norway” don’t want better coffee, they just want a cooler bag on the counter.
 
For repeat buys, I keep coming back to Tim Wendelboe, especially their lighter Ethiopian bags for filter. I brew V60 at home, and those beans are incredibly consistent if you follow the recipe on the bag, which is a big plus. For espresso, Supreme Roastworks works better for me — their blends are a bit more forgiving, which matters if your grinder or dialing-in skills aren’t perfect yet. Both places are absolutely worth visiting in person, since you can taste before buying and actually talk through what you like. If someone’s new to specialty coffee, I usually point them to Fuglen because the profiles are balanced and hard to mess up. Have you considered an alternative coffee route outside Oslo, like stopping through Bergen or Trondheim roasters instead?
