I’ve done a few island beach days here, and my strong opinion is an island isn’t worth it on a hot day if it doesn’t have toilets and at least one café. From what I’ve seen, the best beach and lagoon islands are the ones with calm water, basic facilities, and easy ferry access, because that’s what keeps the day relaxed instead of chaotic. I love spots where swimming feels safe and social rather than wild and isolating, especially when you’re there for hours. but there’s a nuance… infrastructure also means crowds, so arriving early really changes the vibe and your chances of getting shade or a decent swimming spot. It feels like people romanticize “untouched” beaches until they’re thirsty, sunburned, and counting ferry minutes. Safety-wise, I always watch for slippery rocks and sudden depth changes near docks.
