I’d like to build one thread that helps EV drivers avoid broken chargers, confusing pricing, and peak-hour queues.

Please share:
  • Which network/app you use most and why (reliability, speed, price clarity)
  • Locations that are consistently good vs constantly busy/broken
  • Any pricing surprises (idle fees, membership pricing, time-based billing)
  • Tips for visitors (best “plug and pay” options, easy onboarding)
Which network gives you the least friction day-to-day—and where do you still run into charging headaches?

I’ve been driving an EV around Oslo on and off, and my bold claim is that reliability matters way more than chasing the cheapest per-kWh price. From what I’ve seen, the least stressful networks are the ones where the app actually connects on the first try and pricing is readable without a spreadsheet. Busy hubs near shopping centers feel convenient until peak hours hit and suddenly every charger is either occupied or “temporarily unavailable.” but there’s a nuance… smaller locations slightly outside the center often work better if you plan ahead and don’t insist on charging right next to your destination. I’ve learned the hard way to always check idle fees, because those can turn a quick coffee stop into an expensive mistake. For transportation tips, I tell visitors to set up one or two apps before arrival so you’re not fumbling with registrations in the rain. Which network has been the most predictable for you day to day? And have you found any locations that are surprisingly calm even during rush hours?

Fully agree. I’ll take a charger that works first try over saving a few kroner any day. The worst headaches are busy mall hubs and surprise idle fees if you linger too long. I’ve also learned to avoid peak hours unless I really enjoy sitting in a car watching other people argue with apps. Smaller stations just outside the center have been way more predictable for me overall. Cheers
