By asking. That is the whole answer, and almost nobody does it.
Most owners wait for reviews to appear. They appear when something went very well or very badly, so the average business collects the loud ends and nothing from the middle, where most of its customers are.
Ask at the moment the person is happy and still in front of you, not three days later by email. Give them the link, not instructions to find you. One sentence, no script.
What not to do: buy them, run a contest for them, or hand out a discount for five stars. All three are found, and the profile pays for it longer than the reviews were worth.
How to check it yourself:
1. Count how many reviews you got in the last ninety days.
2. Ask three people who work with customers how they ask. Listen for a script.
3. Find your own review link and try it on your phone. Count the taps.
4. Look at the last ten reviews: how many came from the middle of your customers?
