Online reputation is what a stranger finds about you in the half minute before he decides. Not what you think of your work. What he can read without asking you.
It is made of three things. What other people wrote about you and where. What your own pages say. And what a machine answers when someone asks it about a business like yours.
The word sounds soft, so people treat it as decoration. It is not. It is the last thing a customer checks before he calls, and the first thing he checks when something goes wrong.
Reputation is not a score. A score is one number on one site. Reputation is what is left in a person's head after he has read four or five places about you.
How to check it yourself:
1. Open your own name on a phone, in a browser where you are not logged in.
2. Read the first page of results the way a stranger would, top to bottom.
3. Write down what a person would believe about you after thirty seconds.
4. Ask an AI assistant what it knows about your business and compare.
If you want a second pair of eyes on your own case, ask in this section.
