The common causes are dull rather than dramatic. A brand new account with one review. Several reviews from the same network in the same hour. A review with a link or a phone number in it. A device that already left a review for you.
There is also the honest possibility: someone offered an incentive. Reviews collected with a discount attached get caught in batches, and the batch takes the good ones with it.
Sitting and waiting rarely helps. Finding the pattern in what disappeared does.
How to check it yourself:
1. List the reviews you remember and cannot find, with their dates.
2. Ask those people to check whether they still see it while signed in.
3. Look for what the missing ones have in common: timing, device, wording.
4. Check whether anything was offered in exchange for a review in that period.
